There is something for everyone on Ios island, dance the night away in the clubs and bars or relax and watch the beautiful sunset from some of the amazing locations on the island. On this page you will find lots of information about Ios and how to get a perfect holiday in Greece. I have spent many summers in Greece and the majority of them here. I will guide you to the best bars and clubs on the Island, tell you which beaches are worth visiting and help you to find cheap accommodations on Ios. Ios is part of the Cyclades in the Aegean Sea. This beautiful Greek island is located between Naxos and Santorini and most of the tourists visiting Ios find accommodation either in the old town, Chora, or at one of the two closest beaches Mylopotas and Yialos next to the port of Ormos. The view of Chora is breathtaking at both day and night and you find the best view of the village from the top of the opposite hill and it is definitely worth the climb.
There are many different beaches on Ios with Mylopotas beach being the most popular one of them all. Many of the beaches are secluded so you can have the whole beach to yourself. Mylopotas offers both sunbeds for rent and lots of unexploited sand to lay your towel on for free. Visit Far Out Club at the end of the long beach if you are in the mood for partying under the sun.
Ios does not have an airport so the only way to get here is by ferry. You can find cheap flights to Athens or Santorini and then catch a ferry to Ios. It is easiest to find flights to Athens and it is definitely worth the ferry ride from Pireus or Rafina to Ios. High speed ferries does the trip in less than 4 hours and slower cheaper ferries takes 8 hours but are half the price compared to the high speed ones. You might find a flight to Santorini and get a shorter ferry ride but most hardcore Ios fans would consider it cheating to go via Santorini. You will miss out on some of the Ios experience if you skip the ferry from Pireus. But it is up to you to choose. It might be more convenient for first time visitors to Ios to fly to Santorini rather than go through Athens.
